Information on the company

This is a care technology startup on a mission to transform the home care sector. Backed by leading VCs and Innovate UK, they help care providers recruit, sponsor, and retain international carers.  They build the software those providers use to manage compliance, onboarding, and operations day-to-day. With £2M+ in recurring revenue and a growing footprint across the UK, they are scaling fast.

The senior leadership team brings together experience from the Cabinet Office, Deliveroo, Amazon, and McKinsey, a rare combination of public sector depth, high-growth operational rigour, and strategic excellence, all focused on fixing a sector that has long been underserved by technology.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The finance function is at an inflection point. As the business grows, the books, processes, and reporting need to keep pace  and that's where this role comes in.

We’re looking for a Finance Manager to join our small finance team. You’ll work alongside our existing finance team member (who owns invoicing) and report directly to our CFO. Your focus will be the day-to-day bookkeeping that keeps financials accurate, clean and ready for reporting at any moment.

This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely loves bookkeeping - the kind of person who finds satisfaction in a fully reconciled bank account and a tidy chart of accounts. You’ll need to be laser-focused, detail-obsessed, and confident enough to flag things when they don’t look right.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Bookkeeping in Xero - the core of the role. Daily and weekly bank reconciliations, accurate transaction coding, supplier bill processing, and keeping the chart of accounts clean.

  • Aged debtors and credit control - monitoring outstanding invoices, running aged debtor reports, and chasing overdue accounts professionally and persistently.

  • Month-end close - supporting the CFO with month-end procedures including accruals, prepayments, and producing reliable management reports.

  • Reporting in Excel - building and maintaining financial trackers, reconciliations and reports. Pivot tables, lookups, and clean modelling are part of daily life here.

  • Payroll support - assisting with monthly payroll processing through ADP. • VAT returns - preparing quarterly VAT returns ready for review.

  • Supplier and customer queries - first point of contact for finance-related queries, resolving them quickly and politely.

  • Process improvement - spotting where things could be tidier, more automated or more accurate, and proposing fixes.

The ideal candidate…

  • Xero expertise - You know the platform inside out. You’ve set up bank rules, managed contacts, processed bills and invoices, run aged debtor reports, used tracking categories, and reconciled multi-currency accounts. You don’t need a manual.

  • Advanced Excel skills - Pivot tables, XLOOKUPs, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, conditional formatting, and large dataset cleanups are second nature. You can build working models from scratch, not just maintain them.

  • Strong bookkeeping fundamentals - Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, accruals vs cash accounting, VAT treatment, and how the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow all connect.

  • Exceptional attention to detail - You spot the £4.50 miscoding before it becomes a problem. You don’t sign off a reconciliation that’s 1p out.

  • Self-starter mindset - Comfortable working independently, managing priorities, and asking smart questions when something doesn’t add up.

  • Clear communication skills - Able to explain financial issues clearly to non-finance colleagues without being vague, overly technical, or condescending.

  • Relevant qualifications - AAT qualified or part-qualified, or currently studying towards ACCA or CIMA.

  • Startup or scale-up experience - You’ve worked in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift quickly and people are expected to take ownership.

  • Payroll platform familiarity - Experience using ADP or similar payroll platforms.

  • SaaS or subscription billing experience - Comfortable working with recurring revenue models and subscription-based billing environments.

Why work here?

  • A direct line to senior leadership and the CFO - you’ll be in the room for the conversations that matter.

  • A genuinely friendly, smart team that takes the work seriously but not ourselves.

  • Hybrid working with our office in Aldgate.

  • The chance to shape finance processes at a scale-up, not inherit a corporate machine.

  • Real progression - we want someone who can grow with the role as the finance team grows.
