Information on the company
Our client is the UK's leading transport management platform built for the automotive industry. Every dealer group, car manufacturer, repair workshop and rental business moves thousands of vehicles a year, between sites, to and from customers, into and out of auction. Most of it is still run on spreadsheets, WhatsApp and phone calls. It's expensive, slow, and nobody can see what's happening. Our client fixes that.
A significant share of the UK's top 50 franchise dealer groups now run their movements through them, and this year they'll manage hundreds of thousands of vehicle movements in the UK alone. They grew revenue 3x last year and are now at circa $1M US ARR. They've raised funding to date from leading UK venture funds, and have just built out a global go-to-market operation, actively selling into the US, Canada, South Africa, Europe and Australia, with their first customers in those markets already at late stages of the pipeline. Alongside the core platform they're building an AI stock-intelligence agent that tells dealer buyers what to buy and where to put it, and they have ambitions to expand beyond automotive into other sectors that move high-value assets and run on the same broken processes.
They were founded by a team who have run this problem from the inside. Their Commercial Director previously led global sales for two of the world's most prestigious automotive brands, which matters for this role, because you'll be selling with the domain expertise sitting next to you rather than having to acquire it all first. They're a small team with a large market in front of them. The product works and sells repeatably across geographies. What they need now is more conversations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is a phone-first prospecting role. You'll open new conversations with automotive businesses in the UK and internationally, and turn them into qualified meetings for the sales team.
That means the phone, every day, supported by email sequences and LinkedIn, but the phone is the job and the reason the role exists. Our client isn't asking you to do it because nobody else will. They're asking because it's the single highest-leverage activity in the business right now, and they want someone who's good at it and enjoys it.
You'll also carry your own small book. From early on you'll own deals under around £20,000 ARR end to end, from first call to signature, with support from the CEO and the wider sales team whenever you want it.
YOU WON'T BE STARTING FROM A BLANK LIST
Our client has spent months building an AI layer that runs across their market every day. It flags companies showing strong buy signals, picks up who's engaging with their marketing, and creates and assigns deals automatically. Every morning there are named accounts and named contacts waiting for you, with a reason to call already attached.
That work is done. What they don't have is enough people picking up the phone and engaging them. Good opportunities are served up daily and too many are sitting there. That's the gap this role fills.
You'll also help make the engine better. You're the person hearing what happens when those signals meet a real conversation, which means you'll know quickly which are worth calling and which are noise. That feedback goes straight into how they score accounts, which contacts they surface and how deals get assigned. Nobody else in the business is closer to whether it's working.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work the deals our client's signal engine assigns you each day, and research them properly before you dial
Build your own target lists on top of that, so nothing sits idle
Cold call operations directors, group logistics managers, transport directors and dealer principals
Run multi-channel sequences through Apollo and LinkedIn alongside the calling
Qualify properly, so meetings that reach the calendar are worth having
Book and hand over demos for the account executive team
Run your own smaller deals, under around £20k ARR, through to close
Keep the CRM clean, because the pipeline data is what the whole business plans from
Tell them which signals are converting and which are noise, so the engine gets sharper every week
Feed back what you hear on calls, so they sharpen the message week by week
why this role is different
Deals you own from the start, not in eighteen months. Deals under around £20,000 ARR are yours to run from day one. You learn to close by closing, not by watching.
A real route to Account Executive. There's a path from this seat into a full Account Executive role within your first 6-12 months if you excel, carrying quota on the deals that matter. You won't be waiting for someone to leave.
Our client operates AI-first, not AI as a bolt-on. Every tool across sales and marketing is connected to every other one, and all of it is connected to Claude. Email, calling, LinkedIn, the CRM, their campaign data and their own movement data sit in one loop rather than in separate silos you reconcile by hand. Research, call prep, follow-up and reporting take a fraction of the time they would anywhere else, so you spend your day on conversations instead of admin.
Direct access. You report to the Co-Founder and CEO. You'll be on calls with him, you'll hear how the bigger deals get worked, and your ideas about messaging and targeting will get tested rather than filed.
A product people want. You're not fighting a bad product. Their customers move real cars for real money and the savings are measurable. The hard part is getting the first conversation, which is exactly what you're good at.
Who is this for…
You've done high-volume cold calling in a B2B software business and you were good at it
You come from a properly built sales function, Series A or later, where you learned how a real sales process works
You're deeply committed to a career in sales: not a stepping stone to something else, but the thing you want to be excellent at
You're comfortable calling senior operators in an industry that doesn't yet know our category exists
You take coaching well and act on it quickly
You have opinions about your own tooling and you want them heard, rather than quietly working around a list you think is wrong
You're resilient in the ordinary, unglamorous sense: bad mornings don't become bad weeks
THIS IS NOT RIGHT FOR…
If your plan is to spend a short period on the phones and then move onto strategy, partnerships or your own venture, this isn't the role.
If you want warm inbound leads who already know they need us, this isn't the role; the signals tell you who to call, not that they're expecting your call. If you'd rather send fifty emails than make fifteen calls, this isn't the role.
YOU DO NOT NEED
Automotive experience. We have plenty of it in the team already, and there are very few software businesses in this sector where you could have learned anything useful. We'll teach you about the industry. Bring the sales craft.
A degree, or a particular background. We care what you've done and how you think.
